plants need nutrients for their healthy growth.they absorb nutrients from atmosphere, soil,etc..there are many nutrients which are absorbed by plants,twelve are mostly important and also got recognized by scientists. they are nitrogen,phosphorus,potassium,calcium,magnesium,sulphur,iron,manganese,boron,zinc,copper,and molybdenum.
