During summer the land becomes more hot as a result more water rises up due to evaporation.As there is no rain the water lost in evaporation is not replaced.So the pond dries.

Because the heat from the sun increases the kinetic energy of more number of molecules facilating them to go into the vapour state as a result the rate of evaporation increases
