During drought , there is no rainfall and the land becomes infertile and unsuitable for plants to grow and live . This results in decrease in production of food grains and vegetables . As the production decreases and the demand is increasing there develops a competition between the consumers for food . The one who pays more gets the item . Thus the price of the food grains and vegetables increases in leaps and bounds during droughts.
During flood, crop failure occurs and because of this there is no provision of food to eat and that's why there will be very little quality and quantity of good crops and vegetables which remain. That's why the prices of food grains rises
