why do primitive organism have lesser number of cell as compared to more advance form

Primitive organisms were among the first organisms which came on this earth and the advanced organisms developed/evolved from these primitive organisms.As the organisms evolve they grow new and better features than the older organisms or older generations.In other words they become advanced.This is why Primitive organisms have lesser number of cells as they are the older generation as compared to the advanced form which is the new generation.
