Satellite cities could be completely standalone cities, developed outside metros. They are self-containing, independent cities, unlike a suburb or a subdivision. The purpose of satellite cities is to provide a perfect balance between the population and resources, with respect to environment-friendly development.

Thus , the public utility services and other facilities in such cities have not only became inadequate, but also inefficient . The satellite cities can thus supplement the expansion of the larger/main cities .
Satellite cities are smaller cities planned and developed near large/main cities . These cities are mostly independent of the large/main cities. The main aim for the development of such cities is to decongest the overpopulated and over-urbanized main city.
