WHY DO SILVER ARTICLES BECOME BLACK AFTER SOMETIME WHEN EXPOSED TO AIR

When silver is exposed in the air then the upper layer will seem to be black because the silver will react with the sulphur that is present in the atmosphere and then will form silver sulphide on the uppermost layer of silver that will make it appear dull.

This is known as corrosion of silver metal.
