Why do silver particles become black when after sometime
exposed to air

here's your friend to help you understand this question...
it is the process of corrosion... which turns silver black....
silver gets oxidised.. when left exposed to air.....

it actually reacts with sulphur present in air to form
.. hydrogen sulphide forming a black precipitate...

SINCE AIR CONTAINS A MIXTURE OF IMPURITIES..SILVER WHEN EXPOSED TO AIR REACTS WITH SULPHUR FORMING A BLACK LAYER OF SILVER SULPHIDE.
