Why do some elements exist in the native state, whereas some elements exist in a combined state? Simply put, reactivity. Most elements are found combined with other elements because they are more stable when they are sharing or transfering electrons to other elements.

Some elements exist in native state whereas some elements exist in combined state due to differences in the reactivity amount of the different elements.

• The reactivity of an element is the capabilities of an element to chemically react with another elements in order to produce a compound.

• The elements which have higher amount of reactivity will mostly stay in the compound form in the environment. But the elements which have lower amount of reactivity will mostly stay in the native element form in the environment.

In this way the difference between the reactivity amount, becomes the reason behind the type of existence of the chemical elements.
