why do some leaves appear in colours other than green ? do they have chllorophyll ?

Even though chlorophyll will always be seen as green, there are other pigments that leaves can have that are reddish that cover up the green color. One reason for this is that some plant-eating animals might be attracted to the green color so it helps the plant to cover it up with red.

hlorophyll pigment is always green. Plant leaves and stems aren't always green because they have many pigments other than chlorophyll. The reflected colors are what give pigments their color. Chlorophyll pigments are green because they reflect green light. High concentration of Chlorophyll in leaves gives it the green colour, Carotenoids gives yellow or yellow-orange and Anthocyanins gives red or purple colour to leaves. Leaves of other colours also contain chlorophyll are hidden under the non-green pigments so they can prepare their foods.
