Why do some objects, such as doors and windows, get bigger and smaller?

it depends mainly on it's use. Bigger windows and doors makes way for more air to enter the room. If the air flow in that is region is high we might need only small windows and doors. This condition is applied in vice versia . This is also made according to some beliefs of particular people

As they move apart, they take up more space, causing even solid objects to grow slightly larger. Molecules slow down as they cool, and they take up less room. This causes things to shrink a little bit.
