Why do some people, despite the economic increase it would generate, not want to build more dams in India

despite of indian economic growrth, not want to build more dams in india besause dam are very expensive to built
many peoples have to leave their homes
biodiverties get destroyed
it also changes the temperature of the river and due to this change many organisms die
