why do some plants have to trap insects

Insectivorous plants trap insects because they grow in soil which is usually thin and is also poor in nutrients , so they eat insects to fulfill their nutrient reguirment .

Most plants absorb nutrients through their roots from nutrient-rich soil. Since carnivorous plants grow in nutrient-poor areas they eat insects to get the nutrients they need.
