why do stars twinkle

due to refraction of light emitted by them

it is because stars are very far away from us and they keep changing their position quickly and due to atmospheric refraction the light keeps bending again and again and sometimes the bright light reaches us and sometimes dim light reaches us so they appear to twinkle
