why do substance burn with a flame or without flame​

Answer:

Incombustible substances only vaporize in excess heat without giving a flame. Whereas, combustible substances produce flame and glow . In the process of combustion , a substance reacts with oxygen to produce flame and heat.

If your reaction does not have a flame, then either it is not producing visible light or the reaction does not occur in the air above the substance. it is because of the chemical reaction taking place between the substance burning and the air just above it . this is because of the heat combustion.
