There are a number of substances and elements, which at room temperature and in normal weather conditions can actually burn the skin.
This is usually the case with highly reactive elements, e.g. Sulphur, which one should be very careful to handle, as it can easily burn in even the slightly humidity.
Another such element is phosphorus, which also burns and can be quite dangerous
