This is because of their same properties like boiling or melting point . The size of the lanthanides is almost same , on other hand varies with a small value. When we discuss the chemical behavior of lanthanides like their reactivity towards different elements or compounds of oxides and all , selectivity , rate and many other properties that relates the chemical change , it depends upon their internal chemical nature. Lanthanides contains valency in their f-orbital , opposite to this their structure and size is almost same also having the similar outer electronic configuration and oxidation state , due to poor shielding effect and the energy level of f-orbital . So , these factors are responsible for Lanthanides similar chemical nature.
