this is because wheels provide grip on the the surface over which it it is moving. This decreases friction and allows the cart to move easily. Moreover it saves energy and labour to a great extent

The wheels have round shape and we know that rolling friction takes place in wheels.
So,the load carrying heavy vehicles have large number of wheels so as to undergo rolling friction which is the least friction as a result the vehicle can easily move while carrying the loads.
