Why do the number of organisms get decreased as we move from producer to different level of consumers ?

because if consumers will increase then producers population get affected and they will die along with next level organisms will also die . That's why organisms will decrease as we move to upper trophic levels

When we actually move from producers to different level of consumers, 10% of the available energy is lost as heat to the enviroment. Plants trap only 1% of light energy of the sun and convert it into chemical energy for photosynthesis. As we can see that Plants produce foods, they are available in larfe numbers in our environment but other consumers are dependent directly or indirectly from other consumers for their food. As we go to top level of food chain , we can see that only a bit of energy is left for the top level of consumers and hence the no. oforganisms get decreases as we move from producers to different level of consumers specially carnivores and decomposers .
