Small cell's have larger ratio of surface area to volume and therefore the rate of diffusion and transport of nutrients across cell surface is faster. Faster rate is important for cell's to function in an efficient way as it provide nutrients which are necessary for them to function. When cell's gets bigger, their ratio of surface area to volume decreases and transport of nutrients become slower. Therefore, small cell's have better efficient.

Answer:
Selvan small in size because of small cell provided more surface area per unit volume this can be understood by the following example
Explanation:
images of cube with its each side measuring 4 cm total surface area of the cube will be 4 cm ×4cm x 6 (surfaces) = 96 square cm. If we cut the cube into 8 equal pieces of 2 cm , the total surface area of these 8 cube will be to 2centimetre × 2 cm ×6 (surfaces) × 8 pieces = 192 square centimetre the surface area is double while the total volume is both the case remain the same
