Coniferous trees have conical shape and leaves have needle like structure as it helps in adaptation to the environment they thrive. The cone shape allows snow to slide down and not accumulate on the branches and leaves. The needle shape enables to preserve the tree’s life in different ways .

EXPLANATION:

The conical shape of coniferous trees prevent too much snow accumulating on the tree and helps to get the snow to fall off the tree quickly and get sunlight.

Less snow accumulation facilitates in preserving the tree sturdy and lessens the spoiling of leaves. The needles of coniferous tree help the tree in many way such as needle laves do not shed very often, they can capture sunlight for an entire year, retain more water and seeds which could suspend till there was adequate moisture to take root, they can survive snow and ice, have lower wind resistance, and less likely to make the tree fall over during heavy storms .
