During summer optimum temperature and availability of light triggers the plants to synthesize more food by the process of photosynthesis, food prepared is used for growing and storing. If the plants have more leaves more food can be prepared, so insummer plants acquire more leaves to produce more food.

Because they get optimal growing conditions in summer, like sunlightfor a longer period of time, and there's the right amount of rainfall too. Leaves are the kitchens of trees, and in summerthey work to their full capacities. Some trees also undergo secondary growth in summers, and add growth rings. But notably, deciduous trees markedly show this more-leaves-less-leaves demarcation. Evergreen trees do not.
