Vehicle tyres have treads (grooves) on them because, they help the tyre to get a good grip on roads & even in the wet conditions.

Actually vehicle tyres have small grooves like small rubber threads beacuse to have more grip of tyre with the road.
We know that road and tyre faces direct contact with each other, so they have friction. In many cases lime of rain, etc. this friction get loss and hence, brakes can't be enough to stop they tyre.
So, they are provided thier to increses grip.
