Why do veins have thin walls as compared
to arteries?

Explanation:

Arteries contain the pure blood which is pumped by the heart into it with high pressure but veins are not pumped with blood with high pressure .For surviving the high pressure the arteries are thick walled

Basically, Veins carry impure which means de-oxygenated blood.

These De-oxygenated blood carries into lungs for oxygenation.

In that site, the veins have thin walls for diffusion of oxygen from alveolar membrane into veins. For this purpose, it has thin walls.

And another main reason is .......

The heart pumps blood into arteries in high pressure, So arteries possesses     thicker walls to prevent blood leaking.........

And blood in veins have only minimal pressure hence it have thin walls.......
