Why do we breathe heavily after holding your breath?

When we breath in ,the oxygen enters our body and thus blood.And when we breath out the carbondioxide realsed.
Our body become deprived when we hold our breath,then it tries to make up for his decrease by faster breathing rate , when we breathing again
