Why do we call 'The United States Of America' and not 'The India'

B'cos India gives single citizen ship but if we were in USA San Francisco then we had to take the citizen ship of San Francisco and from their if we want to shift to Vegas then we have to take the citizens ship of Vegas again

It is so because 'united states' is the full name of america, so we use the prefix 'The' there. So we say 'The united states of america.
Whereas India does not have a full name, you know its just 'India'
