Dreams are basically stories and images our mind creates while we sleep. ... Dreams can occur anytimeduring sleep. But most vivid dreamsoccur during deep, REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, when the brain is most active. Some experts say we dream at least four to six times per night. one knows exactly why people (and animals) dream. ... Still others believe that REM sleep, when dreaming takes place, helps to consolidate memories, replenish brain chemicals or rest other parts of the brain. It's also not clear exactly how dreams form......
