Soil: Because of cold temperatures, decomposition takes a long time, resulting in thin soil. Plants: Trees aremostly evergreen and include species such as spruce, fir and pine. The understory is limited because the canopy is so dense.

We have different kinds of forests because particular type of forest can grow in a particular climatic condition.For eg-The Coniferous Forest are found in higher altitude areas
