Vegetables, milk or any food product that contains high moisture tends to spoil in summer at a very faster rate as compared to winter (yes they can rot in winter too if kept idle for long time). These high moisture foods are considered perishable as they are more prone to spoilage than foods with lesser moisture food articles like flour, spices, sugar, salt, milk powder, condensed milk etc. Water content of foods facilitates excellent movement of microorganisms present in food article and since, most of the bacteria present in nature are mesophilic (they grow optimally at 35-40C i.e. atmospheric temperature of tropical countries in summer), their growth is quite rapid in summers when compared to winter. As a result, the foods spoil faster in summer.
