A very simple answer to it would be:

We have Parliamentary form of Govt. in India. And it is an established principle or you can say a pre-requisite of a parliamentary form of govt. that it must have a Written Constitution.

A written constitution avoids confusion and chaos. Parliamentary form of Govt essentially pre-supposes the existence of two or more than two political parties. Thus, a written constitution is extremely essential for a country like ours so that no confusion arises regarding the democratic functioning of the nation.

A constitution helps serves as a set of rules and principles that all persons in a country can agree upon as the basis of the way in which they want the country to be governed. The constitution also spelled out the ideals the citizens believe that their country should uphold.
