The standard meridian of India is 82.5 ° E and it passes through the center of our country and passes through  Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh
---------------------------
India is a vast country and there should be a particular time for all the placed in India in order to avoid confusion of time

in order to avoid this confusion we need standard meredian which can be followed in all the places nd everywhere in the country the time will be same as all the places will follow this time

Every country has a standard Meridian to avoid confusion of time each Meridian has its own local time which is the sun time at a particular place thus local time varius from place to place

India is a country that extends East West for about 29 degree of longitude it means that meridian give as many different local time at any given point of time to avoid confusion the central median is taken or accepted as the Standard Meridian of India
