These same pipelines also provide fuel to generate electricity and the building blocks for fertilizers to increase crop production. Pipelines also collect crude oil from many rural areas to deliver to refineries and chemical plants to create all the products that come from petroleum and petrochemicals manufacturing.

1. Both solid (when converted to slurry) liquid and gases can be transported through pipelines.
2. Initial cost of laying pipelines is high but subsequent running costs are minimal.
3. Trans-shipment of losses and delays are minimum.
4. It is economical to transport petroleum, natural gas, fertilizers to interior places.
Hope this helps!!☺
