We need political parties because :

• Their existence in a representative democracy ensures that a country runs according to its policies and ideologies, and has a responsive and accounting government who will be able to run the country and manage its affairs efficiently.
• Without political parties, candidates elected would be free or independent and accountable to the constituency for what they do in the locality.

• Political parties play an important role in putting forward their ideas and policies and setting up organisations for the welfare of the public.
