standard meridian is called the 0° latitude.it is the starting line of measuring latitudinal position.it is an imaginary straight line passing through west africa.

we need a standard meridian because indian is a vast country and in different places it has diffent time .we use standard meridian to remove confusion.it is located in the almost middle part of country at 82degree 7min east
