Different food items contain different nutrients and our body wants all the types of nutrients. A food item may not contain all the required nutrients in the required amount. So to meet the nutrient requirement we must eat different food items. Each food item is rich in a nutrient but not in the other . We must not compromise with health and eat different food items.
Nutrients can be divided into these -
- Carbohydrates
- Fats
- Protein
- Vitamins
- Minerals
- Roughage
- Water
Vitamins and minerals are required in very small amounts.
Excess of protein may cause health problems like-kidney stone
Excess of carbohydrate and fats/lipids intake may make you obese and may cause certain health problems.
