why do we prefer a convex mirror as a rear view mirror in vehicle ?

Convex mirrors are commonly used as rear-view (wing) mirrors in vehicles because they give an erect, virtual, full size diminished image of distant objects with a wider field ofview. Thus, convex mirrors enable the driver to view much larger area than would be possible with a plane mirror.
