Democracy is a system of government in which citizens can have say in governing body or they can elect someone among themselves as a representative. Democracy promotes equality among citizens is one of the reasons why people prefer democracy, it enhances the dignity of an individual because they can raise their voice about certain issues.

Democracy also improves the quality of decision making because there are more heads and everyone can give their input about what they think about a particular topic. There can be an open public debate on various issues in which everyone can talk about their problems.

Democracy promotes dignity and freedom of a citizen; when citizens are asked to raise their voice about a certain issue and they can actually have a say in certain issues that makes them feel dignified and they feel there is a freedom because they have the right to express what they feel is not right in the society.

Democracy safeguards the basic human rights, it reduces the stress and tension among the citizens as they know their problems or issues are actually being noticed by the society and they might take an action against them. But in order to promote peaceful and harmonious democracy one should respect the differences of each other because not everyone has the same opinion as other and there may be a risk of conflict.
