Why do we prefer democracy than any other form of government

Democracy means we people choose representatives from us to form an eligible government .So it is important as it is the accountable form of government and is the eligible form of government and helps to improve decisions .And as it is rightly said by Abraham Linchon that "Democracy is the form of government of the people ,by the people and for the people".
