The saucer has larger/more surface area compare to the cup.Therefore, the hot tea cools faster in the saucer. That's why we prefer hot tea in a saucer than in a cup.

In saucer,surface area increase so tea will come to normal temperature fast
Whereas in cups , surface area decrease so the tea will remain hot for long time.
