Why do we remove chlorophyll from the leaf before the test of starch?

Chlorophyll is a green pigment in the leaf which must be removed for the iodine test..
If the chlorophyll is not removed the leaf is not decolourised and the leaf does not turn blue black when iodine is dropped .
