To understand why do we say 'home sweet home' and not 'house sweet house', we first need to understand that what is the difference between a home and a house. A house is a building which is meant to be lived into but no one is living in it yet. A home is a house in which some people have moved in and are living. That is the reason we say 'housing properties' and not 'homing properties' or anything like that as the properties are made but are empty. The same reason is for 'housing loan ' and not 'homing loan' or something like that. As for 'home sweet home' and 'house sweet home' is that, we say 'home sweet home' because a person will only have a liking for a house once he has moved into it. No one will say 'house sweet house' for a empty building. So this is the reason behind why do we say 'home sweet home' and not 'house sweet house.'
