Why do we say that stem is a negative geotropic?

when stem stand opposite to gravity

We know that response to gravity is called geotropism or that part is called geotrophic.
So roots grow towards gravity and it is called positively geotrophic but stems grow against gravity and hence it is called negatively geotrophic
