Why do you apply Paint on Iron articles

to prevent them from rusting

vijaya2002: iron reacts with O2 & moisture in the air to form rust.the reaction is as follows Fe(OH)2 ⇌ FeO + H2O
Fe(OH)3 ⇌ FeO(OH) + H2O
2 FeO(OH) ⇌ Fe2O3 + H2O

we apply paint on iron articles because paint prevent iron from rusting
