1.The Non-Cooperation Movement was a failure because of violence that was caused in Chauri Chaura on February 05, 1922.

2. Police started attacking the localities, and the angry peasants fired the police station that had 22 polices officers inside.

3. Fearing more acts of violence, this was called off by Gandhi.

However, this movement did have its own notable successes.

Answer:

The failure of Non-Cooperation Movement is accredited to Chauri-Chaura incident which took place in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh. This movement was started by Mahatma Gandhi as a non0-violent protest to the Jalianwala Bagh massacre which had taken the lives of 100s of people, but with Chauri Chaura incident, Mahtama Gandhi took it back as it instigated violence, He had called off the movement on 5th February 1922.
