Answer:Giving real figures to smokers does not prevent from smoking because:
1) many of the real figures are in the form of probabilistic estimates, & evidence shows that people are very bad at processing & understanding this kind of information.
2) all smokers seems to have an uncle or auntie who has been smoking cigarettes since they were 12, lived to 90, & died because they fell down the stairs. Reliance on this kind of evidence & not being able to cope with probabilistic data form the two main foundation stones of people's assessment of risk.
3) a third is reliance on press-published danger and causes death.
