Hey there!

Glaciers are solid forms of water, hence they exert more pressure, these can drastically reshape the landscape over hundreds or even thousands of years. The ice erodes the land surface and carries the broken rocks .

Thus a u shape valley is formed as glacier passes through.

A river usually in liquid form due to waters kinetic enemy cuts the valley in v shape as the sedimentary particles consist in solid form they dig a narrow out look valley. Rivers with steep gradients, as in mountain ranges, produce steep walls and a bottom. Shallower slopes may produce broader and gentler valleys

Glaciers make U- shaped valleys because they flow down pre- existing river or V- shaped valleys causing the bottom of the "V" to level out a "U" shaped as the glaciers eroded the valley walls due to the large size and weight, resulting in a wider, deeper valley. For this reason, U- shaped valleys are sometimes referred to as glacial troughs.

In the mountainous regions due to steep slope the river flow swiftly and it exerts a great force in cutting the mountains vertically. As a result a deep valley develops, narrow at the bottom and wider at the top. Thus V- shaped valleys are formed.
