there are many areas which are underdeveloped and basic facilities like food,clean water, sanitation etc are not available. The people living there are struggling to make ends meet.

So, if the government takes the task of providing water then it would be ideal as the first motive of the government is the welfare of the people. So they would provide clean drinking water at an affordable price.

Whereas, private groups have a single motive of earning a profit, so they will provide clean water at a high price so as to earn a high profit and because of this, the people would not be able to afford the water. This is why I think that handing over the task of supplying water to private groups is not ideal.
