Jute is a fiber widely used for making a wide range of products, like purses, bags, sacks, carpets etc. Since they need tropical rainfall, high humidity and warm weather conditions, they are easily grown in Indian Ganges delta and other similar regions.
Interestingly, jute plants are grown very close to each other so that they can grow tall and straight.
A single strand of jute can be as long as 5 to 10 feet, and as thick as a finger.
Once the plants reach their full length, they are harvested, tied and dried to extract jute fiber.
