Lack of awareness, headed by landlords and party men and were restricted to raise a question are some of the reasons for only a few people to attend a Gram Sabha Meeting.

Explanation:

Gram Sabha is the grassroot of participation democracy, it was established through 73rd constitutional Amendment Act, 1992. Gram Sabha is the representation body which comprises elected representatives and meeting scheduled on Independence Day, Republic Day, and Gandhi Jayanthi. Supreme Court can’t overrule the decision of Gram Sabha except unconstitutional matters. In Vengaivasal (near Chennai), people resist the exploited industry through resolution passed by the Gram Sabha members which is accepted by the Supreme court.

The most important reason for not attending the Gram Sabha meeting by the people is that they are unaware of the things happening around them. Most of the Gram Sabha meetings are headed by the landlords or by the party men which makes them to feel superior and they wont lend ear to the people.
