Fungi are known as heterotrophic organisms. An organism that obtains its nurture from lifeless or dying organic material is called saprophyte.
Autotrophs generate the energy by receiving sunlight, but there are many sorts of plants which get the energy from the lifeless and decomposing remains of animals.
They are termed as saprophytic plants and the appearance of such micro-organisms for example lichens, bacteria, algae, is due to various colored materials in the cells. These bacteria utilize variants of the green color in plants but at the same time also receive brightness of various wavelengths and produce natural shades of purple, reddish, greenish, yellowish, orange, and brownish colors.
