Answer:

Explanation:

Shylock was eager to cut off Antonio`s flesh as he(Antonio) failed to return back the loan which he had taken from him . Further Shylock`s daughter had fallen for Antonio`s friend Lorenzo and took stole huge amount of money from his house.

Shylock is one of the character of the play, The Merchant of Venice in William Shakespeare.

In the above play Shylock is a Jewish who lends money to his Christian rival Antonio. He decided to set aside a pound of Antonio`s flesh as a security against the loan.

When Antonio fails to pay back the loan, Shylock pressed for the pound of flesh. This decision of his was backed by the insult he had suffered in the hands of Antonio in the past and a huge financial losses. He was even physically beaten and had a series of altercation in the Rialto (Venice stock exchange) . Antonio had even tainted the Jewish religion

Adding further fuel to his anger was Jessica, Shylock's daughter falling in love with Lorenzo ,Antonio's friend Lorenzo. Her daughter got converted to Christianity and even took away huge riches from her brother`s house.

Hope this helps.
